Candle Castle Help Center
To ensure your Candle Castle candles last longer and burn evenly, follow these comprehensive care tips:
1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to about 5mm (1/4 inch). This prevents the flame from becoming too large, which can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke.
2. Burn Time: Allow the candle to burn until the melted wax pool reaches the edges of the container. This can take 2 to 4 hours. This prevents tunneling and helps the candle burn evenly throughout its life.
3. Avoid Drafts: Place your candle in a location free from drafts or direct air currents. This helps prevent uneven burning and sooting.
4. Proper Extinguishing: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Blowing it out can cause smoke and may splash hot wax.
5. Storage: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat or light can cause the wax to become discolored or misshapen.
6. Safety: Never leave a burning candle unattended, and always burn it on a heat-resistant surface, keeping it away from flammable objects. By following these candle care tips, you can maximize the lifespan and enjoyment of your Candle Castle candles. These practices not only extend the candle's burn time but also enhance overall safety and performance, ensuring a pleasant experience every time you light your Candle Castle candle!
The candle container turning black is the result of 'sooting' which usually occurs when the wick is too long. As a result the flame becomes too big and burns hotter, causing the and the sides of the candle container to appear burnt or black. To avoid this, ensure that the wick is trimmed to a length of 5mm before lighting the candle.
Sooting can also occur if the wick becomes 'mushroomed'. This can happen when a candle is left to burn for too long. Excess carbon builds up in the tip of the wick causing it to look like a small mushroom causing a larger flame and the same sooting effect. Limit candle burns to 2 - 4 hours at a time to help avoid mushrooming.
Excess carbon (the black sooty substance) can be cleaned from the candle container once the wax has completely cooled and hardened using a damp cloth to gently remove the soot from the glass.
